1. Tournament Background

The MATTA Malaysia Pickleball Grand Slam 2025 (MPG2025) is organized by the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) in collaboration with Almega Management and Services. The event is endorsed by the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Entrepreneur Development Sarawak, Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry & Performing Arts Sarawak, Kuching Pickleball Association (KPA), Malaysian Pickleball Association (MPA), and Sarawak Pickleball Association (SPA).

5.4 Submission Process

All teams and players must complete the Official Registration on https://www.mattampg.com/ before 1700 hours (Malaysian Time) on Tuesday, 16 September 2025.

5.5 Confirmation

Participation is only confirmed once both the Entry Fees and Payment Evidence are acknowledged by the Organisers.

Tournament Information

6. Tournament Closing Date of Entry

    1. Entries through email must be received by Tuesday, 30 September 2025 by 1700 HRS (Malaysian Time)
    1. Late entries without payment confirmation will not be entertained
    1. No refund shall be made after payment
    1. Confirmation by organisers must be obtained before making arrangements

7. Tournament Format

7.1 TEAM EVENT (Group & Knock Out System)

  • 7.1.1 Men’s Singles
  • 7.1.2 Men’s Doubles
  • 7.1.3 Women’s Doubles
  • 7.1.4 Mixed Doubles
  • 7.1.5 Men’s Masters Doubles (50 years and above)

7.2 TEAM EVENT (Group & Knock Out System)

Player’s age shall be based on Year of Birth as stated in Identity Card (ID) or Passport. Player’s Age Eligibility 19+ and above. All participating teams shall submit the form together with photocopies of their identification card or official documents for age verification purposes.

7.3

Open to All Pickleball Global Registered (PGID) Players only (Malaysian and Non-Malaysian).

7.4

Minimum Nine (9) Players, Maximum Twelve (12) including Team Manager.

7.5

Each Player is allowed to play in a Maximum of One (1) Category ONLY.

7.6

Open to Sixty Four (64) Teams divided into Eight (8) Groups. Round Robin with Top Two (2) to the Last 16 Teams. (Win – 3 Points, Lost – 0 Points)

7.7

All Group Matches will be based on the Traditional Scoring Format (0–0–2). 11 Points. No Deuce. One (1) Set Only Per Tie. End change after Score reaches 6.

7.8

All Group Round Robin Matches must be completed.

7.9

Any Withdrawal during Group Matches, the Opponent shall be declared the winner by the score of 5–0.

7.10

Round of 16 (Elimination Round) will be based on Traditional Scoring Format (0–0–2). 11 Points. No Deuce. One (1) Set only Per Tie. End change after Score reaches 6.

7.11

Quarter Final / Semi-Final Matches will be based on Traditional Scoring Format (0–0–2). 11 Points. No Deuce. One (1) Set Only Per Tie. End change after Score reaches 6.

7.12

Final Matches will be based on Traditional Scoring Format (0–0–2). 15 Points. No Deuce. One(1) Set Only Per Tie. End change after Score reaches 8.

7.13

3rd/4th Play-Off Matches will be based on Traditional Scoring Format (0–0–2). 11 Points. No Deuce. One (1) Set Only Per Tie. End change after Score reaches 6.

7.14

Any Non-Compliance of Age Eligibility registered in the Nomination Form which has been submitted and announced by the Tournament Referee (TR), the said Tie will be defaulted.

7.15

If the same Non-Compliance is committed by the same Team, all the Matches shall be defaulted and the opponent shall be declared the Winner by the score of 5–0.

7.16

A Ten (10) Minutes Walkover will be strictly observed after official announcement. All matches will be based on the time stated on the Pickleball Global website.

7.17

No changes of Player are allowed after the Line-up Form has been submitted to the Tournament Referee (TR).

7.18

To ensure observance of Sportsmanship conduct during a tie, “Line Calls” will be based on Receiver’s Call.

7.19

Umpires / Linesmen will be provided during Semi-Final, 3rd, 4th placing and Final Matches.

7.20

Team Event is scheduled to start at 0900 HRS - 2200 hrs.

7.21

The Organisers reserve the right to change the Format / Scoring of the Tournament.

8. Tournament Information

8.1 INDIVIDUAL SINGLES EVENT

  • 8.1.1 Limited to Thirty Two (32) Pax on First-Come-First-Serve Basis.
  • 8.1.2 Player’s Age Eligibility 19+ and above.

8.2 INDIVIDUAL DOUBLES EVENT

(MEN’S DOUBLES, WOMEN’S DOUBLES, MIXED DOUBLES OPEN AND MIXED MASTERS 50 YEARS AND ABOVE)

  • 8.2.1 Limited to Thirty Two (32) Pairs on First-Come-First-Serve Basis.
  • 8.2.2 Player’s Age Eligibility 19+ and above.

8.3 INDIVIDUAL DOUBLES EVENT (JUNIOR UNDER 18)

(BOY’S AND GIRL’S DOUBLES)

  • 8.3.1 Limited to Thirty Two (32) Pax on First-Come-First-Serve Basis.
  • 8.3.2 Player’s Age Eligibility 18 and below.

8.4 INDIVIDUAL DOUBLES EVENT (JUNIOR UNDER 14)

  • 8.4.1 Limited to Thirty Two (32) Pairs on First-Come-First-Serve Basis.
  • 8.4.2 Player’s Age Eligibility 14 and below.

8.5 Format / Scoring

  • 8.5.1 All Group Matches will be based on Traditional Scoring Format (0–0–2). 11 Points. No Deuce. One (1) Set Only. End change after Score reaches 6. 8.5.2 All Group Round Robin Matches must be completed.
  • 8.5.3 Any Withdrawal during Group Matches, the Opponent shall be declared the winner by the score of 11–0.
  • 8.5.4 Round of 16 (Elimination Round) will be based on Traditional Scoring Format (0–0–2). 11 Points. No Deuce. One (1) Set only. End change after Score reaches 6.
  • 8.5.5 Quarter Final / Semi-Final Matches will be based on Traditional Scoring Format (0–0–2). 11 Points. No Deuce. One (1) Set Only. End change after Score reaches 6.
  • 8.5.6 Final Matches will be based on Traditional Scoring Format (0–0–2). 15 Points. No Deuce. One (1) Set Only. End change after Score reaches 8.
  • 8.5.7 3rd / 4th Play-offs Matches will be based on Traditional Scoring Format (0–0–2). 11 Points. No Deuce. One (1) Set Only. End change after Score reaches 6.
  • 8.5.8 Umpires / Linesmen will be provided during Semi-Final, 3rd, 4th Placing and Final Matches.
  • 8.5.9 A Ten (10) Minutes Walkover will be strictly observed after official announcement. All matches will be based on the time stated on the Pickleball Global website.
  • 8.5.10 The Individual Event starts at 0900 HRS - 2200 HRS

9. Rules & Regulations

  • 9.1 USA Pickleball Official Rulebook 2025 and Malaysia Pickleball Association (MPA)’s Bye - Laws will be adopted for the tournament: http://usapickleball.org.
  • 9.2 All Players must report to the Tournament Desk at least Thirty (30) Minutes before the scheduled match. Players should wait at the "Players Waiting Area" or "Assigned Court" for your Match Announcement.
  • 9.3 Colour of Player's Jerseys/Apparels must not be Neon Green or Yellow.
  • 9.4 Players must only use the USAP-Approved Paddle that is posted on the USAP website (https://equipment.usapickleball.org/paddle-list/).

10. Disputes / Complaints

  • 10.1 In the interest of the smooth running of the Competition, ONLY the Team Managers are allowed to file any Complaint(s) or Dispute(s) to the Tournament Director (TD)/Tournament Referee(TR) to be tabled to the 9.2 Organising Committee.
  • 10.2 A Non-Refundable Deposit of Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) Two Thousand (MYR 2,000.00) is required together with the Written Complaint (s) or 9.3 Dispute (s).
  • 10.3 Any decision by the Organising Committee & Disciplinary Committee on any dispute shall be FINAL.

11. OFFICIAL BALL

  • 11.1 Franklin will be the Official Ball used during the Tournament. In case of unforeseen circumstances, the Organisers reserve the right to use other brands.

12. INDEMNITY & INSURANCE

  • 12.1 All Participating Teams, and its delegated players/officials MUST agree to indemnify and hold the Organisers, free and unaccountable for and against any claims arising from personal injury, death, or property damage, arising out of or in any way resulting from the participation in the said Tournament or during the travelling to this Tournament.

13. PERSONAL BELONGINGS

  • 13.1 It is the Player's responsibility to keep their own belongings safe and secure while at the tournament venue. The Organisers will not be held liable or responsible for any loss, theft, or damage to your personal belongings.

14. PRACTICE/TEST COURTS

  • 14.1 Participating Teams wishing to Practice/Test Courts before 14th of October 2025 (for Individual) and 17th October 2025 (for Team) can contact Pikabol, Kuching’s Office (+6012 416 2044)

15. NOTICE OF EVENT POSTPONEMENT & CANCELLATION

  • 15.1 In the event that the tournament is suddenly postponed and declared Force Majeure at short notice by the government due to unforeseen circumstances related to natural disasters, riots, outbreak of diseases, fire or any event deemed by government authority as a risk to public interest and safety, the Organisers will observe the instruction to postpone or cancel the event without prejudice to any legal action that the participants may wish to take against the Organisers e.g. claim for damage, loss, distress etc. Under such circumstances the participants agree that they will not hold the Organisers accountable for any form of loss caused to players registered for the Tournament.

16. ALCOHOL/DRUGS/TOBACCO

  • 16.1 Players registered to compete in this Tournament are strictly prohibited from consuming alcohol at PIKABOL, Kuching indulging in substance abuse, or smoking while participating. Any Players found to have breached this requirement is deemed to have broken the universal tournament ethos and can endanger the smooth running of the event, mar the reputation of the hosts, and endanger the safety of other Players and the public at large. For such breach of sports ethics, the Organisers reserve the right to eject the affected Players and prohibit the offender from further participation in the Tournament. The Team he/she represents may be subject to further action as deemed fit by the Organisers.
  • 16.2 While no alcohol and smoking restrictions apply to general spectators who are not participants in the Tournament, substance abuse is strictly prohibited.
